Because our hives are located in the tropical rainforest where flora and other subsistence is in abundance, there's no need for pesticides, herbicides or modifications. In fact, the honey-producing process, from the breeding of the bees to the extraction of the honey, is natural and organic. Basically, our beekeepers build a hive, place it strategically in the rainforest and let nature take it from there.
The bees in Sierra Leone feast on nectar from local acacia trees, mangroves, hardwood ebony trees, palms and even flowering vines. The resulting honey has a dark color and complex flavor profile with an intense sweetness and with fruity and grassy notes. |
Creating a BuzzIn the U.S., African honeybees may be feared, but they’re revered in Africa for their resiliency to disease and parasites, and ability to produce vast amounts of honey. The bees thrive in their flowering habitat, where they can gather nectar from plants, seasonal flora and fallen fruit.
